Notes on the use of your personal data
At CASA UNITED SAGL ("CASA UNITED"), we take the protection of your personal information very seriously. Our privacy and data protection policies inform you about the ways in which CASA UNITED processes your personal data and tell you how you can exchange this data with other members of the CASA UNITED Partner Network. You can access and print these notes at any time from any page of the CASA UNITED Website by clicking the "Data Protection" link.
1. How CASA UNITED uses your data
CASA UNITED utilizes your personal data only to the extent necessary for making and structuring the contract, providing services to you or settling additional products for a fee. In so doing, we comply with the data protection and privacy laws of both the Federal Republic of Germany and the European Union. The term, "personal data" refers to all particulars of your personal or material circumstances.
CASA UNITED does not sell your personal data, nor does it provide your data to third parties for marketing purposes without your permission. Personal data comprises the information you were required to provide to us when you registered, namely: your first and last name; your date of birth; your company name; your complete address; the industry in which you work; your picture; your email address; and your chosen password. It also includes any data provided voluntarily during registration (your landline, cell phone and fax numbers, your Skype user name, your VAT number or your Website address). Usage data comprises the data that is generated when you use the CASA UNITED Partner Network. In particular, it includes information that allows us to identify you as a registered member; information on the start and end as well as the scope of your visits to the CASA UNITED Website; and information on the services you used on the Website. You can prevent the future use of any data voluntarily submitted at any time simply by deleting the respective details from your profile.
Your usage data is stored for payment purposes only if you select additional fee-based products and request itemized invoicing. You will be required to enter your credit card data (card holder name, credit card number and the verification code from the back of your card) on the form provided for that purpose on the CASA UNITED Website only if you make use of additional fee-based products. The data you provide is stored directly on the PCI DSS certified FinanceGate platform of PAYONE GmbH & Co. KG, Fraunhoferstrasse 2-4,24118 Kiel, Germany. CASA UNITED itself does not store members' credit card data, nor does it have access to this data: PAYONE GmbH & Co. KG merely provides us with the credit card reference number that has been assigned to you. This enables us to process your order and identify you as a customer who has purchased additional fee-based products.
Only if you request an itemized invoice of additional fee-based products you purchased will we send you such a statement. This will list not only the provider of the product but also the date, duration, type, content and frequency of your use of this product. This data is deleted no later than six months from the date on which the itemization was sent to you, assuming that you have not raised objections within that period or failed to pay our invoice. Accordingly, unlimited review of invoices within statutory storage periods is therefore only possible if you request an itemization of the additional fee-based products that you have purchased and used.
We may also utilize your data for advertising, consulting and market research purposes, as well as for preparing user profiles that help us customize the services we offer. Such usage requires your approval of the declaration of consent, which is accessible from the Settings menu on our Website. You may access your declaration of consent at any time in the Settings menu. You may withdraw this consent by sending a letter to CASA UNITED SAGL at the address provided in the Legal Notice section of our Website www.casaunited.com or an appropriate email to legal@casaunited.com.
2. Visibility of data to other members
Your email address — which is also your user name — is only visible to those members of the CASA UNITED Partner Network that you have confirmed as desired contacts. Your password remains hidden from members of the CASA UNITED Partner Network at all times. Under no circumstances will CASA UNITED provide your password to third parties and/or make it known to them by other means.
All of your personal profile data — except your year of birth and the email address you provided (only displayed to confirmed contacts) — will be visible to members of the CASA UNITED Partner Network. Internet users who are not members of the CASA UNITED Partner Network cannot view your personal data on the CASA UNITED Website.
Any VAT or similar tax identification numbers that you provide during registration are also displayed in your profile and visible to all members. Providing these numbers serves to further verify your status as a business person, attorney or tax consultant. As regards any other data voluntarily submitted, you may decide whether this data should be available to all members or only to your confirmed contacts. Contacts that you have confirmed will also be able to see all your other confirmed contacts.
If you refer a potential buyer to a member for a property that this member has listed, then this member will be provided with your first and last name, your complete address and your member ID. The same applies if you accept the potential buyer that another member has referred to you in your capacity as the seller of a property.
3. Establishing groups
Members of the CASA UNITED Partner Network may establish open or closed (user) groups. While open groups are available to all members, closed groups are available solely to members approved by the respective group's founder. CASA UNITED itself may also establish groups. The founder of a group can appoint any number of group members to serve as moderators. The group's founder decides whether the group will be a public group or accessible only to a certain group of people. This person also grants members read and/or write permissions within the respective group.
These details are displayed on the CASA UNITED Website for the respective group but can be seen only by the group's members. All members who decide to join a particular group can read the messages that its members post if the group is marked as "public" on the CASA UNITED Website.
4. Cookies
To make it as convenient as possible for our members to use the CASA UNITED Partner Network, we use a feature called “cookies”. Cookies are files that allow us to store specific data relating to you, our user, on your PC or other computing device while you are using services from CASA UNITED.
Used in this way, our cookies (specifically, “session cookies”) allow us to identify registered members while they are visiting the CASA UNITED Website. Session cookies are automatically deleted at the end of your session. You will not need to log on each time using your member name and password if you selected the feature "Log me in automatically on this computer." In this case, a permanent cookie is stored on your computer until you delete it. Permanent cookies contain some of your registration data in an encoded form. However, you can log on automatically only on one computer at a time.
In general, you can block the storage of cookies, limit it to specific Websites or configure your browser to notify you whenever a cookie is transmitted to your PC. You can also delete cookies from your computer's hard drive at any time. Please be advised, however, that you will be unable to use the CASA UNITED Website's networking features if you disallow session cookies.
If you use additional fee-based products, which may be offered wholly or partly by third parties, then these third-party providers may also store cookies on your PC or other computing device as necessary. You can prevent such cookies from being stored on your computer by configuring your browser to block the cookies of third-party providers.
5. Log files
When you access a page on the CASA UNITED Website, this access data is logged to a report file known as a server log. This access data set contains the following information:
- the time; the status; the request that your browser sent to the server; the amount of data transmitted; the Website that linked you to the requested page (“Referrer”);
- and the product and browser version identifier (“User Agent”).
If and insofar as CASA UNITED is not subject to any statutory obligation to store certain items of data, all IP addresses you use during a visit are deleted or anonymized at the end of your session on the CASA UNITED Website. Anonymizing an IP address means changing it so that particulars of personal or material circumstances can no longer be attributed to a specific or identifiable natural person. (Such attribution may be rendered entirely impossible or possible only by expending unreasonable amounts of money, labor and time.)
While CASA UNITED uses the log data recorded during your visits to the CASA UNITED Website for statistical analyses, this data is anonymized first and cannot be attributed to you personally. Such analyses enable us to determine peak traffic days and times for the CASA UNITED Website, as well as the extent of the data volume generated. In addition, the logs also make it easier for us detect and fix service interruptions that can affect use of the CASA UNITED Website. CASA UNITED only links data regarding page views and hits in the server log to a specific user if they have given prior permission for this kind of use. However, CASA UNITED reserves the right to utilize server log data if certain facts provide sufficient grounds to suspect that members are using the CASA UNITED Partner Network in ways that breach laws or the General Terms and Conditions of CASA UNITED. This serves to protect members and the security of member data while facilitating the smooth operation of the CASA UNITED Website.
The above information about the use of your data relates only to CASA UNITED's utilization of your personal data. Please note that we cannot influence the use of your data by third parties to whom you have submitted your data while using the CASA UNITED Website, nor the use to which this data is put. The terms and conditions of any third parties apply to the extent that you avail yourself of their services. CASA UNITED does not review these companies' terms and conditions or data protection and privacy policies. We therefore recommend that you vet such providers beforehand and review their privacy policies before you use their services or entrust them with your personal data.
